Action Alert | Ft. Myers Waterfront Plans

Dear Editor,

The first letter I wrote on the subject of the Exhibition Hall was involved with historical data. I now wish to embark on a new avenue, mainly, the future of downtown riverfront Fort Myers.

I am not sure whether the populace of the city of Fort Myers is truly aware of the consequences of the WCI endeavor which is part of the Exhibition Hall property. How many of you know that the public boat ramp on Edwards Drive will be moved somewhere else? Do you know that part of Centennial Park will be sold to this group who will build a hotel and condominum, highrise in downtown Fort Myers? Where are the local people in this issue? Where is public access? I am sorry if I offend others by these complaints, but I cannot roll over and "play dead".

We need another "Town Meeting" which might ensure that "We, the People of Ft. ! Myers" will speak and become more knowledgeable of the workings of some of the City Council members on this issue. By the way, what ever happened to the Duany Plan? My thanks to Dr. Knight and Mr. Flanders for their continued support, other Council members and the Mayor, need to listen to the people. Thanks for the opportunity to speak and write what I feel.
This is America, thank God.

Kathleen S. Holloway
