Political Interference in Scientific Assessments in Florida

Re: the NYTimes editorial below: we agree that Congress is falling down on the job if it does not investigate political interference with science.

This May,* the Council of Civic Associations, Inc., called on Congressman Nick Rahall, Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources to expand the Committee's investigation to include political interference with biological science in Florida. (See our cover letter at: http://www.peer.org/docs/fl/07_9_5_cca_report_excerpts.pdf.

Since that time, Rep. Rahall has announced that his Committee will be looking at additional cases.  If any of you feel you have information that may be of significant value to make our case for expansion of the investigation the contact person is Lori Sonken, Staff Director, Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife and Oceans. Ms. Sonken's e-mail address is: L.Sonken@mail.house.gov

Alternately. if you would prefer that I be the contact with the Congressional staff, I would be happy to do so.
